Remember a month back, I posted about how Olivia was speaking so well and she has a beautiful vocabulary....well, lately she has been stuttering. When she tries to say certain words, it comes out "B...B...B...Bear" There is no particular word that she struggles with, she would just stutter at random.

At one point, it was becoming really bad and all of a sudden, it became very minimal, only a few times a day. She still stutters now but only occassionally.

I read up on the issue and it is said that while children's speech and language skills are developing rapidly, stuttering is not uncommon. This type of stuttering, called developmental stuttering is usually temporary.

I am hoping that Olivia's stuttering is temporary since there are no close family members that stutters. It is hard for me to believe that on the one hand, she can speak so well for her age, and on the other hand, she stutters.

If she still stutters by the time she turn 2 1/2 years old, I will bring this up to her pediatrician during her well visit.

Please pray that this is a developmental stage and not speech disorder.

Winter activities #1

The Winter season is especially challenging if you have an active toddler. In the warmer months, you can take your child outside and let him/her tire him/herself out by playing & running around.

But when it's so cold outside, what do you do? They get bored if they are cooped up inside the house. One thing that Olivia likes to do is finger paint, or should I say 'arm' paint....hehe.

I bought these non-toxic finger paints from Crayola, squirt on the pallette and let her imagination run wild.

Olivia likes to smear the paints around the paper and also on both her arms.

It is a good activity for toddlers because they feel the texture of the paint and encourage sensory development.

Of course, after that I just throw her into the bath as these are washable paint. :)

Oh my goodness, I can't even begin to tell you how busy I was the last 2 weeks, hence the absence from the blogersphere.

Work is so busy that I had to log in at night to do the second shift. If only I could clone myself.....

On the home front, hubby was away for a week on business, so I'm the only one to 'kau tim' everything. It has been very tiring.

Hubby is home now, at least I can breathe a little bit. Work is still busy and will be so until I could find a replacement for someone who reported to me.

Busy like a worker bee........
